e+chess Book, DBchess, Chess viewer, how can you chose the best among those fun and smart applications to improve/understand chess...
I have installed all of them, and think that what will make difference will be the databases/books offered .
For now what makesbChess U interesting , is the interface that I find smooth and nice visually, variations are in a different colour, and the lay out is really nice.
I would advise you to get the free e+chess book or chess viewer application for iPad to compare , just a matter of personal taste.
On Chess U , any file you want to add ( like understand the Kan Sicilian or Rooks endings) will cost you 0.79€...
I just bought those two lessons and was not impressed by their content, you have annotation every 4 to 5 moves, and the variations given arent deep enough in my opinion.
Another problem, if you leave the application and come back, you will have to wait each time 10 seconds (!?) an "Uploading data" message, this is really annoying.
Last thing, a display bug happened to me a couple of times , suddenly, the screen shows a board with many more pieces then possible, I had 3 kings on the same time !
In conclusion, I really regret that this application is not finished yet, because that could be a great one.
The courses offered are way to simple and do not consider more intense players used to chess informant databases.
I will wait for an update and rewrite this review to give ChessU the 4/5 stars it deserves...
