Best chess learning app!

This is the best chess learning app available in App Store. Courses are must be bought but lets face it - you have no better alternatives. Grab it now and become next grandmaster ;) 2DEVS: PLEASE ADD ABILITY TO ADD COURSES TO SOME KIND OF FAVOURITES FOR FASTER ACCESS TO CHOSEN COURSES. We also want real RETINA support, come on its almost 2015... Add please add mate in 1, 2, 3, 4 courses and find the best move like in Shredder chess program (see it in App Store). Your courses is pretty expensive so I expect youll work hard to satisfy your customers.

Stylish

Very nice and stylish !

Bravi!

Really intelligent and really good work. Detailed variations are very nice and interesting! Maybe it would be nice to have a faster ui

Only for beginners

I have bought an advanced bundle and i am disappointed. The course is in fact very basic with shallow coverage of concepts and only 1 quiz per lesson. In the end I didnt learn anything new. The application is very nice but if you have already read a couple of books about chess then probably you will not find anything new. Good only for beginners with an elo < 1400 that are just starting to learn. I am a 1600 player. .

Does exactly what it says it does

Anyone who says this chess app doesnt improve the game of a beginner at chess, or at the minimum give pause for thought to the many 1700 + players out there. You or simply not being honest.

Interface is great.

I love this interface. I wish I could open my own pgn files in it. There is a good selection of lessons. The free Attack 101 should give you a good feel for this app and what the lessons are like.

Well crafted application.

This is an application that actually teaches. Also the interface is a marvel. When I was younger Horowitzs chess movies were fascinating. Now they exist in real time. I look forward to new material.

Good

I love this app. Gives good instruction for beginners. Would like a search feature when looking for specific courses.

Very good!!

For a new or very advanced player this app is great. Ive tried most in the App Store. Just wish they had more for intermediate players.

Great

Amazing worth every amount you spend

review of chess u

Over all its a good app but has its faults like many in the chess category. For beginners it probably is better at teaching, because beginners wont notice move errors the way better players do. To make the authors point in the self imposed restrictions of 10 games for any given opening, many bad move choices are shown as if they were the first candidate move. Intermediate players will be somewhat disappointed by the sloppiness of these lessons. Also - if you have purchased an opening but it is part of a group of openings that could be had as a group for a cheaper price, no tips are given, so that later when you want to purchase a group of three openings for example, and you have already purchased one of the three you might be slightly irritated you were given no notice of the group purchase first, or that because you have already purchased one of the group, there are other choices you can make ( which there are not). However, all that being said, it is still one of the better apps out there for demonstrating chess openings, middlegames and endgames. The above criticisms are not meant to be a handicap for purchase of the app, but only as a caveat, and a hope for improvement of the courses. There is no reason to limit the course instruction to 10 games with variations, and there is no reason not to have greater depth and less sloppiness in the choice of candidate moves. I would willingly PAY MORE if they would WORK HARDER at getting the app into a better class of app.

I love it!

I really enjoy this app. I have several other chess apps and like this the best. The courses are reasonably priced, and the program is updated regularly. Keep up the good work.

Exelente app real good

Very good an easy to understand

Excellent

Ive only played through the first lesson so far, but this looks like a great app for improving your chess thinking. The interface is great! You can access variations as they come up, and the app will rearrange the pieces and step you through them, and you can easily go back to the main line any time. I very much appreciate how the text gives you insight into various moves and lines of thinking. And at several points in a game analysis, will give you a multiple choice question about the next move to be played. I havent seen another app out there like it. Highly recommended.

A Chess Charm

The Chessboard and the most unique mechanics behind the simple and direct advise offered in a variety of mini chess lessons is great and crafted to increase chess proficiency painlessly.

Chesss Place of Higher Education

IM Ginsburg and his cadre of chess experts have worked hard on presenting a thoughtful series of constantly-updated lesson plans for beginners, masters, and everybody in between. This app looks great on iPhones and iPads alike, with smooth animations and a board/set that is never distracting. Ginsburgs commentary radiates the humor and insight so often missing from "chess education" software. Its improved my game and deepened my appreciation of this ancient game by a great deal. I look forward to future updates. That said, I have two major improvement suggestions: 1. Offline Access: Many of the places I take my wi-fi only iPad dont have wi-fi. I wish I could open the courses Ive bought without having to access the Internet to do so. Id love to see downloaded content made available offline as an option. 2. Customized Course Sorting: The lessons are great, but the way they show up on the course selection page. If the user could sort them based on their own criteria, it would be a lot easier to navigate the "university" intuitively. Keep up the good work, all involved with Chess U! I look forward to the future.

Wonderful self study

Recommended for those willing to spend time learning alone the wonders of chess and its ability to to learn.

IMHO

Good short lessions - what I want on my phone. Long lessions = better on desktop. Excellent support with problems. Team seems to be continually improving program. One con is need internet connection.

Not bad

I really like the quick lessons and the option to move on if I purchase more lessons. This seems pretty reasonable to me.

Great app learning a lot

I have played chess on and off for many years but never formal training. Thank you for this opportunity.
