Chess U App Reviews

Encouraging !

e+chess Book, DBchess, Chess viewer, how can you chose the best among those fun and smart applications to improve/understand chess... I have installed all of them, and think that what will make difference will be the databases/books offered . For now what makesbChess U interesting , is the interface that I find smooth and nice visually, variations are in a different colour, and the lay out is really nice. I would advise you to get the free e+chess book or chess viewer application for iPad to compare , just a matter of personal taste. On Chess U , any file you want to add ( like understand the Kan Sicilian or Rooks endings) will cost you 0.79€... I just bought those two lessons and was not impressed by their content, you have annotation every 4 to 5 moves, and the variations given arent deep enough in my opinion. Another problem, if you leave the application and come back, you will have to wait each time 10 seconds (!?) an "Uploading data" message, this is really annoying. Last thing, a display bug happened to me a couple of times , suddenly, the screen shows a board with many more pieces then possible, I had 3 kings on the same time ! In conclusion, I really regret that this application is not finished yet, because that could be a great one. The courses offered are way to simple and do not consider more intense players used to chess informant databases. I will wait for an update and rewrite this review to give ChessU the 4/5 stars it deserves...

With a Lot Potential

I like the idea behind this app. But it is still cumbersome to handle. The biggest problem: The app connects to the internet at every start. This is really annoying!

Not Free!!!

When downloading you are led to believe the app is free. Now I know most good apps arent free and thats fine but at least they let you try before you buy. Not the case here, dont waste your time downloading unless you plan to purchase the lessons right away!!

Wonderful

This is fantastic, offering a lot of nice course material for free! Thank you!

Part free

There are only two free courses: Learn chess and Attack 101. Learn chess is for beginners Attack 101 brings good ideas using step by step tournament games. The other advanced courses by chess masters come with charge.

Great app

This app has helped me learn that defense doesnt need to be a clunky, tight-knit group of pieces. The lessons that are free are more than enough to teach you useful tricks. The only thing it doesnt teach is algebraic chess notation, but thats easy to learn on the web.

Rip off

Complete money grab and everything is locked out unless u pay for it. Dont bother

useful and informative

this app gets better with each update, please add more modules.

Great

Fun learning. It need more pack or free lesson.

Ok

The lessons are well structured and informative but there are very few free lessons (~4). In order to learn much at all it will cost $$$$$$. Cash grab as it stands.

Shouldnt cost

Why?! Why?!? I only have like 98 cents and thats not even enough for 1 single thing!

Very good tool
